Dr Chris de Kock, former head of the Crime Information Analysis Centre (CIAC) of the South African Police Service (SAPS), explains that farm attacks and murders are a highly emotional and sensitive issue because many people of our country have their historical roots in the rural/farming communities of South Africa.
What makes matters worse is that many of the people that have been victims of farm attacks and murder are older family members living in the rural/ farming communities that have been brutally murdered and violently attacked.
Dr de Kock believes that we must remain objective in dealing with these heinous crimes. His entire presentation describes why this is so important. In this video he describes the reasons behind the emotion and sensitivity of farm attacks and murders. He also describes the dire consequences on food security, conflict , South africa's image in the international community and the economic impact.
