AfricaScope is a company that has its origins in South Africa. We have developed many of our products and services for the South African market. Our passion for Africa now allows us to transfer this knowledge and skill to other African countries. Each time we operate in an African country we learn something new.

Demographic Estimates 2019

AfricaScope has been updating the demographic estimates of South Africa at an enumeration area level since 2004. We continue to improve the quality of the demographic estimates using small area estimation, statistical, demographic and image processing techniques.

LSM 2018

LSMs remain the best measure of wealth distribution in South Africa. Using the LSMs a longitudinal perspective of how wealth is changing at a local level can be obtained. Using the most comprehensive source of data, AfricaScope provides the most detailed LSM data for South Africa.

Building Statistics

Statistics South Africa released the building statistics for 2015. AfricaScope has rapidly mapped the data to provide an invaluable geospatial dataset. The dataset contains data on the number, square metres & value of residential (by type) and non-residential (offices, malls, schools) buildings.

Crime Statistics 2018

On an annual basis Africascope sources the crime statistics and uses the police station boundaries to map them. A number of unique indicators are created including ratios, short & long term trends and Location Quotients. We also publish a crime atlas that is unique internationally.
